More changes are coming to the 2021 Specialty Coffee Expo. In a letter sent to registered attendees, the Specialty Coffee Association announced that the 2021 Expo, originally planned for April in New Orleans, Louisiana, has been moved to September 30th through October 3rd.
Issued today, September 9th, a letter penned by SCA CEO Yannis Apostolopoulos calls the postponement of the event to the fall of 2021 the โsafer, more prudent optionโ that โ[allows] our community and participating businesses more time to recover from the pandemic.โ The announcement comes exactly one week after Apostolopoulos sent a similar letter stating that World of Coffee Warsaw had been officially canceled.
From the letter:
After much conversation with exhibitors and sponsors, local partners, and the Board of Directors,ย todayย the Specialty Coffee Association is announcing that theย 2021 Specialty Coffee Expo scheduled to take place in New Orleans in April will be postponed to September 30-October 3, 2021.ย
We understand the impact that postponing Expo may have on the businesses of our exhibitors and attendees, and how important it is to find meaningful ways to stay connected and informed with market trends and innovations. To help facilitate those connections, we will be launching a new online platform in the coming months where coffee professionals can easily find and engage with 2020 and 2021 Expo exhibitors.
For registered attendees unable to attend Expo during the new datesโincluding those who registered for the Portland 2020 event who had not yet requested a refundโall refunds must be requested by October 9th. Otherwise, the price paid for tickets may be applied to Expo 2022 or โanother SCA product (i.e. World of Coffee 2021, Membership, Education, SCA Store).โ
