Equator Coffees has been a staple in the Bay Area coffee scene since all the way back in 1995. But it wasnโt for nearly another two decades, in 2013, that the brand opened their first cafe. But now, that Mill Valley outpost known as the Proof Lab turns 10 years old, and Equator has lined up a host of special activities to commemorate it.
More than just a cafe, the opening of Proof Lab represented something much larger for the brand, and in fact, in a press release, Equator co-founder and executive chair Helen Russell describes it was what โlaunched the second generation of Equator.โ Proof Lab took Equator from a roasting company to a cafe/roastery that today has nine locations up and down California (with a 10th opening later this month in Los Angelesโs Fairfax District).
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of that seismic shift, Equator has teamed up with artist Fisher Monahan to illustrate all four Marin locationsโLarkspur, Sausalito, Mill Valley, and of course Proof Labโwith the latter taking center stage in Equator red. The design will be available on 12oz mugs for $20, enamel pins for $7, and stickers for free (while supplies last) at all four locations.
As a Proof Lab exclusive, Equator will be releasing a limited edition Celebration Cake Latte that will only be available between Thursday, June 22nd and Sunday, June 25th.
And because June is also Pride Month, Equator is collaborating with Mikeโs Bikes to host the Tour dโEquator: Pride Ride. Taking place Sunday, June 25th, the Pride Ride will kick off at Proof Lab, heading up to the top of Mount Tamalpais, before concluding at Equatorโs Sausalito cafe, where participants will be treated to free paninis and drinks. Free to all, Pride Ride attendees are asked to join Equator in donating to the LGBT Asylum Project, which the brand is raising money for through their Cup for a Cause initiative as well as via the sale of their Pride Tiger pins.
It’s 10 years worth of festivities, all crammed into a single month. For more information, visit Equator Coffees’ official website.
