Miir has been a stalwart in the well-designed coffee drinkware category for over a decade now. Thereโ€™s a pretty good chance your favorite cafe or roaster has collaborated with the Seattle brand for a well-appointed logo mug or tumbler or camp cup even. Now, Miir is expanding their coffee roster even further with the New Standard Carafe. Part heat-retaining storage vessel and part pour-over brewer, the New Standard Carafe is a smart, stylish coffee combo, and itโ€™s live on Kickstarter now.

Miir has for a while now been creating coffee goods outside the drinkware space, having released milk steaming pitcher and pour-over kettleโ€”also part of their New Standard lineโ€”as well as a coffee cannister and Pourigami foldable brewer. With the Carafe, Miir is looking to bring durable, multi-functional design to your morning routine.

Made of vacuum-insulated, double wall 18/8 stainless steel for heat retention, the Carafe comes with a conical brewer, also stainless steel, that can be screwed directly onto it. Then, when the brewing is complete, you just take the brewer off and plug in the press fit lidโ€”made of 100% post-consumer recycled plastic. The brewer is designed to be used with any conical filter, and the Carafe is able to hold two cups of coffee.

And as a nice little bonus, Miir is releasing a precision brewing scale made to pair with the Carafe.

With a little under eight weeks left in the campaign, the Carafe Kickstarter has raised just over $45,000 of their $50,000 goal. Would-be backers have a host of reward options to choose from. A $55 contribution will net the digital coffee scale (MSRP $60). $85 will earn a New Standard Carafe as well as 100 filters ($94 MSRP), and $125 you can get the whole kit and kaboodle, the Carafe, scale, and 100 filters (MSRP $154). If the campaign reaches its goal, rewards are scheduled to begin shipping out in April.

In the pantheon of coffee combo-dombos, the carafe-brewer mash-up is the one that makes the most sense. Making the coffee directly into where it will be stored saves every last drop of that sweet morning nectarโ€”and removes one extra step where things can go catastrophically sideways.
